Loretta received her B.A. in Music Education and her M. Ed. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas Pan-American (currently UTRGV) in Edinburg, Texas. She is a doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. Over the past fifteen years, Loretta has worked as both an educator and school counselor and has experience working with parents and children in a variety of capacities within the public-school setting. Currently, she resides in the Texas border region where she works with children and adolescents. Mrs. Sanchez is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Registered Play Therapist and utilizes EMDR and Sandplay in her clinical work. She also is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Recently, she was selected by NBCC as a Doctoral Minority Fellowship recipient.
Loretta believes in creating a partnership with individuals to utilize personal strengths to help them sort out their challenges and accomplish personal goals. She also realizes the importance of identifying all aspects of an individual’s life that impact well-being including physical health, systems of support (family, friends, etc.), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process.
