About Karen

There are times in life that things feel overwhelming and there is a need for change. To those seeking counseling, Karen’s primary goal is to provide a welcoming, safe environment for clients to explore issues at hand and to grow into a fuller life. She uses an assortment of techniques and activities tailored to the needs of each individual client.

Karen is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. Karen earned both her B.S. in Psychology and her M.S. in Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she graduated with a 4.0 and was inducted as member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi for her outstanding academic achievement while in her master’s program. She is a member of the Texas Counseling Association, Dallas Metro Counseling Association, Association for Play Therapy, and North Texas Chapter Association for Play Therapy.

Karen has several years of experience working with victims of child sexual abuse, trauma, and their non-offending family members. Her client base ranges from children to adults. Through her experiences Karen has helped clients deal with a variety of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, self-harming behavior, anger, grief and loss. Karen uses a focus of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Karen has received training in Play Therapy, Humanistic Sandtray Therapy and Trust-Based Relational Interventions.

Specialties include: Anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, parenting, family communication, life changes, self-injurious behaviors, internet safety, and working with victims of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
