Christal Mihalo earned her B.A. at Judson University in 1993 and her M.S. in Counseling from National-Louis University in 1995. She has her counseling licenses in Illinois (LCPC) and Texas (LPC).
Christal has 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults within various settings such as child welfare agencies, private practice, hospital and in the criminal justice field.
Christal’s tailors her approach based upon her client’s needs. She draws from a variety of strength-based therapeutic approaches and techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Play therapy. Christal’s genuine, empathic, use of humor, and direct approach creates an atmosphere of hope, support, and encouragement.
Specialties include: Children and adolescent issues, families involved in the juvenile probation system, learning disabilities, PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, relationship problems, life transitions, and stress management.
